Having attended Art School, and studying Art & Design, I have always had an appreciation for art, our home is full of it. I find it to be a really powerful form of home décor. A one-of-a-kind piece of art can add lots of personality and character to a room scheme, and create a focal point. It also makes the perfect finishing touch and can really help to pull a space together!
I have been wanting to give our botanical home office a little refresh for such a long time, and I have been on the hunt for the perfect artwork that will bring my botanical scheme to life!
I have always admired the imaginative works of illustrator Olaf Hajek, so when LUMAS who sell his enchanting Flowerheads collection, got in touch recently about collaborating, I was thrilled to bits!
Olaf Hajek is a German-based illustrator, painter and graphic designer whose style is extremely recognisable worldwide. A magician with colours, his artworks each tell such wonderful stories, they “spring to life” and are overflowing with lots of vibrant flora and fauna details.
In his ‘Flowerheads’, a series that combines the art of portrait and still-life painting, he uses rich colours to create enchanting worlds on top of women’s heads. He gives us a glimpse into the way other cultures think, and while the individual components are very familiar, their unique arrangement makes them feel foreign. These mystical “hairstyles” spark the imagination, and there are so many interesting details just waiting to be discovered!

I ended up choosing Olaf’s fantastical ‘Antoinette Home’ artwork for my home office. Not only does this piece enhance this space, it sparks the imagination. Every time I look at it I discover a new hidden detail, which I simply adore. It couldn’t be more prefect to adorn the walls of my lilac home office. It looks right at home, surrounded by my botanical wallpaper and hand-painted murals!
Art makes such a personal and thoughtful gift – you’ll make your friend or loved one feel “extra special”, and they will always think of you every time they look at it. Also, it’s sustainable, it doesn’t have a shelf life. Art is the gift that lasts a lifetime!
